Private Fees

Some areas of medical work are not covered by the health service and a private fee is payable. For services such as medical examinations for an HGV licence, insurance, sports, certification for holiday cancellation and fitness to travel, private health care referral, and some holiday vaccinations.

All charges are those recommended by the British Medical Association and are on display in the waiting room.

Sickness Certificates - You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or at our reception. SCIs for the self employed are also available for reception.

For any illness lasting longer than seven days you will need to see the doctor for him or her to issue a sickness certificate (F.med3) and for any subsequent renewal of the certificate. If your employer insists on a sickness certificate for 7 days or less a charge will be levied.

Complaints

We offer an in-house procedure to deal with your concerns.

This procedure does not deal with matters of legal liability or compensation. The NHS complaints system gives us an opportunity of looking into and if necessary correct any mistakes that may have been made. If at any time you are seeking a legal  solution, the complaint cannot be dealt with under this system, but will be handed over to the Medical Defence Union.

If you wish to make a complaint please contact the Practice Manager, Jackie Russell by telephone, email or in person.

Please note that we have to respect our duty of confidentiality to patients and a patient’s consent will be necessary if a complaint is not made by that patient directly

We endeavour to give you the best service possible at all times, but there may be occasions when you feel  you wish to express dissatisfaction or a concern.

If you would like to speak to someone impartial PALS (Patient Advisor Liaison Service) is based at the RHCH.
